The kit, sized for your guest count - cameras, film, and the box it all comes in.

The planner's problem

You have a colour palette. You have a stationery designer. You have a saxophonist who walks in during dinner. You have a flash mob that nobody but you and your maid of honour knows about.

You don't have the camera situation figured out.

The pro is brilliant for the ceremony, the formals, the first dance, the portraits in the garden at golden hour. You've booked someone whose feed you've been saving for a year. They'll be gone by 10pm.

The hours after 10pm are the hours your wedding becomes the wedding people talk about. The saxophonist. The flash mob. The friend doing the worm. The half-dressed table at 1am. The cousin asleep on the floor.

These are the hours that need their own coverage plan.

A hand holding a CATCH film camera
Matte black, weighted, designed - meant to sit beside the menu card, not in a basket.

What you're trying to avoid

The basket of cheap plastic cameras on a side table looks like a basket of cheap plastic cameras. It will clash with everything else you've planned. The film comes back blown out and scratched, and the photos sit on a hard drive nobody opens.

A bowl of phones at the door solves the "no-phones during ceremony" rule, but then nobody is taking pictures of the second half of the evening at all. By 1am, the entire room is undocumented.

You need the documentation. You don't want the basket.

What you're using instead

CATCH cameras. Reusable, real 35mm film. Designed for the wedding you've been dreaming of.

A few floating around the garden during welcome drinks. One per place setting when guests sit down for dinner. A handful on the bar after the speeches. Guests pick them up, point, press, put them down. One button to operate. No app to download. No screen to tap.

CATCH camera on a wedding table beside burgundy napkin ties
On the table, beside the menu card - not in a basket by the door.
The pro will take the photo of you walking down the aisle. Your friends will take everything else. - The bit nobody tells couples planning a wedding

Why your friends will take better photos than the pro

The pro will be in the choreographed places - the aisle, the first dance, the kiss against the garden wall, the portrait in the long grass when the light goes pink.

Your friends will be in the unchoreographed places.

The look on your nan's face when the saxophonist starts. Your maid of honour catching the speech on the brink of crying. The five-year-old in a velvet bow tie who has stolen a profiterole. The bride doing the worm. The exact moment the flash mob lands.

These photos are the wedding. They cannot be commissioned. They are taken by the people who notice them. The kit on the tables decides whether they exist.

CATCH vs Amazon disposables

CATCH wedding kit Amazon disposables bundle
Reusable cameras Yes Keep them, gift them No
Real 35mm film included Yes Inconsistent stock
Film development included Yes One envelope to our UK lab No - you sort it
Digital gallery in your inbox Yes 7 days end to end No - prints only
Looks like something you'd put on the table Yes Matte, weighted, designed Flimsy, branded, clashes
Lab handling Yes One lab, one quality You hunt for one
Time you spend post-wedding One trip to the postbox Many trips, many queues
Whole-kit price clarity upfront Yes One bundled price Hidden in the dev bill later

The premium isn't a markup. It's the cost of removing every step that would otherwise eat your post-wedding fortnight.

Before and after

Before

A basket of branded plastic cameras at the entrance. The aesthetic clashes with the rest of the room. The film comes back from the high street a fortnight later, scratched and uneven. You scroll through once, you do nothing with them.

After

Matte black CATCH cameras at every place setting, sitting beside the menu card. Guests use them from dinner onwards. One pre-paid envelope back to the lab the Monday after. A gallery of 600 photos arriving in your inbox the week after that.

Same idea. Completely different outcome - and completely different looking on the table.

Ali, founder of CATCH, holding a film camera

Why this exists

I started CATCH because I kept noticing the same thing at every well-planned wedding. Couples had thought about the lighting, the menu, the music. The photography was either "pro until 10pm and then nothing" or "a basket of plastic cameras nobody used."

CATCH is the considered version. Reusable, designed, lab handled, gallery delivered. The photography solved as a piece of the design, not patched in.

If you've got questions before you order, email me directly: ali@catchcameras.com.

What you actually get out of this

Be there

You won't spend your reception watching the wedding through a viewfinder. Neither will your guests.

Coverage past 10pm

The hours your photographer doesn't see are the hours your friends do.

One album

A focused gallery instead of a sprawling hard drive of low-effort phone shots.

A wedding that looks the way you planned

Real grain, real colour, the candid aesthetic you've been saving on Pinterest - of your wedding, not somebody else's.

Honestly answered.

Will guests actually use them if most have never used a film camera?

Yes. Loading the first roll takes about 20 seconds with the instructions in the box - you or one of the wedding party can do all of them in advance. Once loaded, the cameras are one button - point, press, done. No app, no settings, no learning curve for your guests.

How many do we need?

Rule of thumb is one camera per 8-10 guests. For 90 guests, that's around 12. Pick the wedding kit package on the kit page that matches your guest count - the packages are fixed sizes, so size up if you'd rather have a few extras on the bar than run short by the end of the night.

What if a camera goes missing on the night?

It happens. Order one or two spares. The cameras are reusable, not collectible - we'd rather one got pocketed than your guests felt nervous about handling it.

Can we keep them after the wedding? Gift them?

Yes. The cameras are yours to keep, gift, or use again - the honeymoon, the first anniversary, the friends' weddings you'll go to next summer.

We've already booked a photographer. Do we still need this?

Yes - the two layers do different jobs. The pro shoots the ceremony, the formals, the portraits. CATCH covers everything else - dinner onwards, dancefloor, the bits the pro literally cannot be in front of. Most CATCH wedding couples have both.

What about the no-phones rule? Will guests just default to phones?

The two go together. The cameras on the tables are the thing your guests pick up instead. When there's something more fun on the table, the phones tend to stay in pockets.

Do we get prints, or is it all digital?

The gallery arrives as high-resolution digital files in your inbox - yours forever. Print whatever you want from there: favourites for the wall, an album for your mum, postcards for thank-yous.

When will we get the photos back?

7 days from when we receive the film. We'll email you the moment the gallery is ready.

What does it actually cost?

Four package sizes, sized by guest count. 3 cameras £120. 6 cameras £220 (the popular one - "one per table"). 9 cameras £310. 12 cameras £400. Add UK lab development and the digital gallery at checkout - we handle the rest.

Plan the photos like you've planned everything else.

Already booked the pro, the band, the saxophonist? Good. This is the layer they can't shoot.
