FONE FREE FEB: Unplug to recharge

When was the last time you really switched off?

Life is fast. While the energy is exciting, it can also be exhausting.

We glorify being ‘switched on’ 24/7, but taking time to disconnect is one of the best things you can do for your mind and body.

We at CATCH believe switching off can make you feel healthier, happier, and more in control.

As part of our campaign to get people off their phones this month, FONE FREE FEB, we wanted to share 5 of these with you.

1. Your brain needs a reset

Constant notifications, emails, and social media keep your brain in a state of high alert. This can lead to mental fatigue, anxiety and trouble focusing. By turning your phone off for just an hour a day, you allow your brain to rest, improve concentration, and feel more present in your own life, rather than living someone else's online.

2. Less stress = more energy

Always being "on" keeps stress hormones like cortisol high, which can leave you feeling drained. Taking time to unplug—whether it’s a walk outside or a quiet evening reading—helps lower stress, improve sleep, and boost overall energy levels.

3. Better self-esteem, less comparison

Scrolling through social media often means comparing yourself to curated versions of other people’s lives. A break from screens helps reduce negative self-talk, boost self-esteem, and remind you that real life is what matters most. Instead of worrying about likes, invest in things that genuinely make you feel good.

4. Improved relationships and connections

When you’re constantly checking your phone or replying to emails, you miss out on real-world interactions. Creating phone-free time—whether it’s during dinner or on a Sunday morning—lets you deepen connections, be more present, and enjoy meaningful conversations.

5. Body benefits

Switching off isn’t just about your mind—it helps your body too! Less screen time means better sleep, fewer headaches, and less eye strain. Plus, when you put your phone down, you’re more likely to move, stretch, and get fresh air—all things that improve mood and physical health.

The Takeaway? Unplug to recharge

Switching off isn’t about missing out—it’s about gaining back your time, energy, and mental clarity.

Start small: turn your phone off for an hour, set boundaries, or go for a walk.

Get used to a life without digital distraction.
